A society named Ramlai Medicinal Plants Cultivators’ Union, founded and led by the late PC Lalhela, was formed in 2010 by farmers who had a keen interest in the cultivation of medicinal plants at Serchhip. Farmers from the society have been cultivating some medicinal plants on their own dime since then.
In 2017, the society was restructured, reconstituted, and renamed to Ramlai Society for Traditional Medicine, to broaden its aims and objects, areas of operations, and to include more professionals to deal with the society’s multiple ventures.
